From beta to v1.4 — everything that shipped this year

A tour through Numivo's release history — Smart Grids, species relations, the 1M-asset content browser, and the small fixes that made daily work smoother.

New here and wondering how fast Numivo moves? This is the short version of the full release notes — the highlights from beta to today's v1.4.

v1.4 — Smart Grids & species relations

The current release added the two most-requested systems at once:

  • Smart Grids: rectangular, circular, polygonal and hexagonal layouts projected onto any surface, with masks and incremental rotation. Modular building at paint speed.
  • Species relations: Avoid and Attract rules between species — debris that gathers around rock formations, grass that keeps distance from trails. This is the feature that pushes scattered scenes from "filled" to "believable".

v1.2–v1.3 — the content browser grew up

Browsing large libraries went from tolerable to instant: virtualized results, a persistent thumbnail pipeline and an asset index that comfortably handles a million assets. Optional AI tagging arrived as strictly opt-in — it only ever uploads the small preview image used for tagging, never your assets.

v1.0–v1.1 — mesh blending stopped being magic and started being reliable

The blending system learned pixel-perfect normal transitions and got fast enough to preview live. Measuring picked up minimum-distance checks and numeric entry — small features that quietly became the ones people say they can't work without.

v0.9 — the beta that set the rules

The beta established the principle everything else follows: bake to native engine assets, add zero runtime cost. Every release since has kept that contract — your builds contain no Numivo code, and scenes built in the beta still open today.

What's coming

The public roadmap shows what's in development next. Subscriptions get every update while active; Lifetime licenses get all v1 fixes until 2.0. Want something prioritized? The team reads every request — v1.4's species relations exist because studios kept describing the same problem.
